Alex Rodriguez Details Steroid Abuse at Press Conference

Yesterday, Yankees slugger Alex Rodridguez addressed his steroid issue once again but this time in much greater detail. Who knows whether he is being completely honest with us (I highly doubt that) but it was interesting to note that A-Rod went into much greater detail than any other player who has admitted to using steroids. The whole "boli" thing seems a little odd, but Rodriguez was pretty detailed in saying how often he took steroids, when during the season and how it affected his play.

A-Rod Admits Steroid Use

Since it's definitely been the biggest story in sports the last week, I guess I should post the video of Alex Rodriguez's interview where he admits he took steroids.

If you don't know the story behind it, I'd rather not try and type out all the ins and outs of how this all happened, so I'll just point you HERE.

Plaxico Burress Can't Handle a Weapon

Plax calling his lawyer

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE
A judge set bail for Plaxico Burress at $100,000 today and a grand jury hearing has been set for March 31. He did not enter a plea.

The prosecutor had asked for a $250,000 bail due to the nature of the felony. His attorney argued that since Plax had a $35 million contract, he wasn't going anywhere. Apparently, the judge agreed.

As for the illegal weapons charge, if convicted Plax could face as much as a 15-year prison sentence. His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, told the judge the gun in question had been registered in Florida and even though Plax has a house in New Jersey, he spends half his time in the Sunshine State.

Plax is in the courthouse and will stay there until he posts bond.

Story developing ... [TMZ]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you haven't heard, New York Giants' wide receiver and resident trouble maker Plaxico Burress shot himself in the thigh while out at a club in Manhattan over the weekend. I don't know what else to say....Plax you are an idiot, anyone who drafted you on their fantasy team is now your mortal enemy.
New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress has told the team that he accidentally shot himself Friday night, a league official told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.

Burress was treated and released from New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He was there overnight and was released at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Giants said. A team official told The Associated Press that Burress shot himself in a nightclub.

New York City police say they are investigating whether the incident took place at Latin Quarter, a sprawling 15,000-square-foot restaurant and club in midtown Manhattan.

A league official told Paolantonio that the bullet went through the skin and muscle tissue of Burress' right thigh and did not hit any major arteries, and that there were no broken bones.

The Giants said in a statement Saturday afternoon that Burress suffered a wound to his right thigh. The team did not specify in its statement how the shooting occured. [ESPN]

Burress, 31, was drinking with Pierce and teammate Derrick Ward at the Latin Quarter nightclub on Lexington Ave. in Midtown Friday night and told security at the nightspot that he was carrying a loaded handgun for protection because he had expensive jewelry and lots of cash.

After being waved inside, Burress began downing drinks and was carrying a glass of wine in his hand when he began fumbling with his gun, police sources said. The weapon went off, firing a single bullet that tore through Burress right thigh.

As the wide receiver crumpled to the floor screaming in pain, Pierce ran over and applied pressure to the wound as dancers gyrated to hip hop beats all around them, sources said. [NY Daily News]

While there is no video of exactly what happened in the club that night, I would imagine the incident was very similar to the ones below:

Will They Stay or Will They Go?

Yesterday two of the biggest questions of the off season in football were answered.

As I'm sure many of you heard either last night or this morning that Brett Favre will be joining the New York Jets after a trade was announced last night.

I'm sure everyone knows the story, how could you not, the Brett Favre saga has been in the headlines everyday for weeks. The Green Bay Packers stuck with their decision to go with Cal product Aaron Rodgers as quarterback next season and reluctantly dealt Favre to the Jets for draft picks.

Now, in other football news that you probably haven't heard, Portuguese superstar winger Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to stay with Manchester United for at least one more year. After leading the Red Devils to a Premier League Title and a UEFA Champions League Title this past season, Ronaldo expressed interest in playing in Spain, for Real Madrid in particular.

Now with both soap operas officially over, we as a sporting community can finally move on. No more speculation and waiting, we have our answers, let's be done with it.
